OUR CLUB'S PRESENTATION NIGHT

Last Thursday 3rd September in Paradiso Club at Xlendi, the players, committee and guests were present for this special event were two ends meet together. The closing of season 2008/2009 and the opening of the season 2009/2010. During this event several players and other supporters were awarded.

Although last season did not offer any honors on club basis, three players were individually awarded by Gozo Football Association for the individual efforts. They were also given a trophy by our club for this effort. Michelle Pace was awarded as the Best Female Player for season 2008/2009, Dylan Mercieca was awarded in the Most Promising Player and Leonard Camilleri finished the Under 21 Top Scorer.

Another award that was announced during this event is the Club's Footballer of the Year which is yearly sponsored by MCE Limited. This award was presented by Hon. President Mr Lionel Puglisevich to our promising player Manuel Tabone.

During this event there were various other presentations. Mr & Mrs Priestly presented to the Vice-President of the Club Mr Michael Callejja, a hand made tapestrly of the Kercem Ajax Club Logo. Mr Vince Sciberras on behalf of the Kercem Youth Nursery, presented the new nursery logo which was designed by Martin Attard. A small memento was given to Mr Dimos Melifronidis for the support he gave to the club last year, especially in the female sector. Another memento was given by the Club's President Mr Carmel Camilleri to Mr Angelo Grech for the work he has done during his time forming part of the committee.

During this event Mr Linell Puglisevich in the name of MCE Ltd presented the sponsorship cheque to the Club's President and also delivered a small message were he remembered to those present the committment that his company has shown to the club for various years and is hoping the this will continue subject to the company's performance during this period where businiess is facing a tough challange.

Special thanks to the management and staff of Paradiso, George and Kim Said for the hospitality of this event.

The first nursery meeting for this season is going to be held next Tuesday 1st September at 7.30pm at Kercem Ajax Club House.

All parents who which that there children form part of the Kercem Youth Nursery are to attend this meeting in order to meet the new head coach and also share ideas with us. This invitation is opened to boys and girls who were born between years 1992 till 2004. Those interested are to fill up an application which is being distributed this weekend and present this during the meeting or else contact us via e-mail or one of the committee members.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MILOS AND MAUREEN

The committee, coaches, players and supporters of Kercem Ajax would like to congratulate our player Milos and his wife Maureen Stojanovic for there newly born baby boy Dyan.

NEW NURSERY HEAD COACH APPOINTED

The role of Nursery Head Coach has been entrusted to Mr Joseph Xerri.

Aged twenty seven, Mr Xerri holds the UEFA C license and has also attended several coaching courses conducted by Mr Dusan Fitzel and Mr Horst Heese. Although young in age Mr Xerri had a vast experience in Football Club administration, where he formed part of the Munxar Falcons committee for several years and served as a secretary for seven years. As a player he began attending the Kercem Youth Nursery and afterwards played for Munxar Falcons and Lawrence Spurs. He began his coaching career in 2001 by coaching the Munxar Falcons Under 11 team. In 2007 he was appointed Head Coach of Munxar Falcons, a post he occupied until last year. During this year he was called up by the Gozo Football Association to form part of the Gozo Nursery by coaching the Under 15 section.

Mr Xerri already had a meeting with the coaching staff of the Kercem Youth Nursery and a programme for the coming season is being set.

We wish Mr Xerri good luck in this role.

SENIOR TEAM NEWS

Our Senior team has been the preparation for the season 2009/2010, under the guidance of Coach Mr Victor Caruana assisted by Mr Louis Grech. The work done in the last two years by these two coaches has been influential to base our squad on our local players as they now have gained experience in the highest level of Gozo football. Several foreign players playing in different roles are currently on trial which will eventually strengthen the squad once the adequate two will be chosen to form part of the team.

Preseason training began on Monday 3rd August and a first friendly match against St Andrews FC was played on the 18th August at Luxol Grounds. Although our team lost this game 2-0 the team performance was described as satisfactory by our coaches.

WELCOME ........

Following the annual general meeting, the committee has been working hard on the upcoming season. Several activities have been held and also several issues such as senior team and the nursery have been on the agenda. One of the topics discussed was how to use better the club's resources in order to keep more contact with our supporters. One of the measures being taken is eventually this new link on our website that will deliver to you supporters all news and activities the club will be organising.
